Gregory Branson-Trent Is Going To Ground!

In the last 24 hours, GB-T has either shut down his blogs himself (likely), or the provider shut them down for him.  All except one, of course, which now belongs to me.  His web site is being pulled down as well.  It appears that Mr. Branson-Trent is feeling the heat and (smarter than most in his situation) is pulling his head into his shell to wait until the storm passes.

That isn't going to work this time.  So instead, I predict that before long he will pop up somewhere with a new identity.  That's a problem for the future.  Now that he is running away at full speed I must finish with this book and move on to the others.  I will hunt down his plagiarism no matter where it tries to hide.  He still has a ton of books in print that he uses to prey on unsuspecting newbies.

I will make an offer I have made in the past.  Mr. Branson-Trent, if you ever decide to be a writer rather than a plagiaizer or a con man (initially you appeared to be on the former, but now I am sensing a great deal of the latter), I will gladly help.  I'm glad to act as editor or simply proofreader.  I will give you honest feedback and tell you how I think you can improve your work.  And as the legitimate author of the material you can tell me I'm wrong and do things exactly how you wish.  That's one of the joys of creating things yourself - you do not have to bow to how anyone else wants things done.

I have only begun this fight sir.  You need to retire.  Move on to a new con.  This one is busted.

Score One For The Good Guys

I just received word from Amazon's copyright department that they are suspending all sales of Gregory Branson-Trent's incense book, both hardcopy and eBook versions.  They estimate 2-3 days to get it removed from all Amazon servers.

We have pretty much determined where to attempt service on Mr. B-T, pending review from the experts.  Next on the old hit parade is to track down his printer and hit them with a C and D as well as go after his only other major outlet (BN).  With the formal recognition from Amazon, sending the info to BN makes it fairly automatic when it comes to removal.

There is still a lot more work to do.  Once I have finished with this book, I will begin to check every other book he has sold for any more plagiarism of my work.  Along the way I am documenting all of the other plagiarized work that I can and notifying the copyright owners and publishers (when applicable).  He has claimed at times that his books are distributed by Ingram but that has not proven to be an accurate statement...big shock...

Corrupting books is as close to sin as my Pagan brain can compute.  I don't really believe in the concept of "sin" but I do believe in right and wrong.  I never in a million years saw myself as a "white hat" champion of good (honestly, I still don't!) but this massive transgression by this person cannot go unanswered.  Onward and upward.

Some Progress on Amazon

As of this morning, Mr. Branson-Trent's incense book is no longer for sale in hardcopy on Amazon.  Oddly, the eBook is still available, but it IS early in the morning.  Hopefully by this afternoon all sales will be halted and the listings taken down.  Baby steps, but better than nothing.

My efforts have also attracted a stalker who writes similar copy-and-paste books that are even more incomprehensible that B-T's books.  A group of us exposed her on Amazon and she's furious that we had her fake reviews removed.  I don't mind having a stalker if it means getting some of this garbage people pass off as "Pagan" or "Wiccan" off the market.  It hurts legitimate practitioners when fools who don't understand even the most basic concepts attempt to teach others.

Effort against Branson-Trent Incense book on Amazon

My publisher, Llewellyn, is working to get this book pulled, but I have started my own grassroots effort to dovetail with theirs.

Here is the link to some example materials of the theft in the book I mentioned:
http://incensebooks.com/branson-trent.htm

If you agree that this book is plagiarized, I would ask that you post a 1 star review of the book on Amazon.  If you feel more energetic, you should email them about this as well.

His book is listed at:
http://www.amazon.com/How-Make-Incense-References-Aromatherapy/dp/1477535373/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1342965282&sr=1-2&keywords=branson-trent+recipes

Once Amazon has dealt with this, I will move on to other sellers.

Gregory Branson-Trent is making money stealing from other authors

This guy has been selling copy-and-paste theft of intellectual property for years.  He just published a book that plariarizes my first book (Incense: Crafting & Use of Magickal Scents; Llewellyn Publications, 2003) along wiht several Scott Cunningham books.  He has over 40 books in print and they are all made up entirely of plagiarized material from legitimate authors.  He is a blight on several communities.

Here is a nice video about this guy on YouTube:
